- A brief personal profile -

CLIVE RICHARDSON

From a very early age I developed an appreciation for music, due partly to the fact that all my immediate family were in entertainment - my father a working drummer and my mother an ex-professional dancer actively working in musical theatre and running her own dance school. I also have an older sister who performed regularly in local theatre productions as a child and subsequently studied and graduated from  London's "Mountview Theatre School" to become a professional actress/singer.

There was always some kind of musical influence on me, be it watching Dad play (on many, many occasions) or mum and my sister on the stage singing and dancing. I appeared in a number of shows myself as a youngster, but the theatre didn't really appeal to me so I decided to follow in Dad's footsteps and learn the drums - aged 10.

After a period of intense study and practise, I joined my first band at the age of 14 and performed my first gig that same year. I have been studying and playing ever since and have gained extensive studio and live/touring experience with various bands and artists playing venues all over the UK and Europe.

I've always had a fascination with the creative side of music and I spend much of my time writing and producing in my home studio. Apart from playing and programming drums, I also play electric/acoustic guitar and keyboards - which I use as compositional tools in my original music. I am a published writer and currently have music placed in various TV and Film soundtracks in the UK and US.

I started my own teaching practice after turning professional in 1991 and currently teach drums and percussion in a number of schools and privately. I also take on studio session work as and when I can - any enquiries about my availability for sessions can be made directly through the CONTACT page.
